Toenail Fungus

Feet can be a sore subject. It isn’t uncommon for people to not like their feet or hide them away when others are going barefoot. On the list of complaints clients have about their feet, toenail fungus is at the top.
WHAT IS TOENAIL FUNGUS?
A common infection of the nail, toenail fungus begins as a white or yellow-brown spot under the tip of your toenail. As the fungal infection goes deeper, the nail discolours, thickens and crumbles at the edge. It can spread to other nails, as well.
Nail fungus is also called onychomycosis. When fungus infects the areas between your toes and the skin of your feet, it’s called athlete’s foot. Due to where and how we house our feet, dark and moist areas, it only exacerbates the fungal issue. It is incredibly common and highly contagious.
Treatment for toenail fungus?
We use our Cutera laser to treat Toenail Fungus. It works by using laser light to pass through the nail and surrounding tissue. The laser light is absorbed by pigment in the fungi, which causes the pigment to heat up, and this heat kills or damages the fungal organism.
COMPLIMENTARY CONSULTATIONS:
Even if you know you have Toenail Fungus, a consultation is required. It is important to discuss your condition before hand to ensure it truly is Toenail Fungus, if it is treatable with our laser, and what the protocols are for how many sessions are needed.
