Injectables are an affordable and non-invasive option for those looking to define, contour, shape, and rejuvenate their face and body without costly and invasive surgery. Our in-house Registered Nurse, Candyce Bell, under the direction and assistance of our Medical Director Willem Prinsloo, offers a selection of injectable services to help clients become more comfortable in their skin.
In our injectable services, we use different types of injectables – Neuromodulators and Dermal Fillers. While these may seem similar to those who haven’t delved into this branch of the aesthetic field they actually have two very different functions. Here is a quick rundown on what each type does.
NEUROMODULATORS
You have likely heard these referred to as Botox™, Dysport™, or Nucevia™ – all of which we offer at Sage Spa, depending on availability from suppliers. Neuromodulators are a natural, purified protein that is used to temporarily relax facial muscles that cause lines and wrinkles. It can also be used to treat medical conditions like hyperhidrosis, excessive sweating. There is very little to no downtime after the procedure, though you may experience bruising or swelling.
DERMAL FILLERS
One of the most popular Dermal Fillers available on the market, and the one we use the most at Sage Spa, is Revanesse™. As you age, your skin cells lose their ability to produce more collagen and elastin, which causes the skin to become dryer, thinner and less able to repair itself. When we are young, we have enough naturally occurring hyaluronic acid in our body to keep our skin taut and healthy, but as we get older this storage of HA diminishes, leaving the skin less supported, causing lines and wrinkles. Dermal Fillers are injected into the problematic areas in order to lift and fill these folds and wrinkles. The discomfort is minimal as the treatment does not take long to perform and results are seen immediately afterwards. Treating wrinkles with dermal filler is fast and leaves no scars. It is also popular to treat lips with fillers to give them that extra kissable volume.
MEET YOUR INJECTABLES TEAM
Having graduated with distinction from the University of Saskatchewan with a bachelor of science in nursing, Candyce has over ten years of experience in the medical aesthetics field. In 2010, she opened her own medical aesthetics clinic, this combined with her numerous advanced certifications has allowed her to develop a unique skillset our clients will reap the benefits of. For the past eight years, she has been the lead clinical Nurse Educator in Western Canada for a major laser company.
Within Sage Spa, Candyce is our Medical Aesthetics professional and will be creating skin health plans to help clients reach their goals. In addition to offering injectables, she also offers a wide range of skin care services such as Microneedling, PRP, InMode RadioFrequency Facials, Plus90 Women’s Heath treatments, Laser Genesis, PhotoFacials, and Deep Dermal.
When consulting and deciding upon a treatment plan, Candyce takes into consideration each clients’ goals and skin concerns. Her amazing personality and empathetic nature allows her to connect with clients and understand their skin needs and desires, which results in the best possible outcomes.
We are so grateful to have Dr. Willem Prinsloo overseeing all of our Medical Aesthetic and Injectable services at the spa. He is in the top five ranked GPs in Campbell River and for good reason. Dr. Prinsloo is an incredibly passionate doctor who is dedicated to his practice and clients. His knowledge and kindness are only two of the many traits that set him apart. At Sage Spa, he offers support to our Registered Nurses and is available to assist with consultations when need be. He ensures proper delegation of procedures and monitors and approves neurotoxin and filler amounts.

I recently had a consult and treatment with Candyce, Sage Spa’s excellent and highly skilled Advanced Medical Aesthetic Nurse and Nurse Injector. As a newbie to injectables and fillers, Candyce took me through each step and what I should expect from the treatment – during and post care.
